DomainOwl started from a simple observation: domain investors were tracking real financial assets in tools built for neither finance nor domains — spreadsheets, registrar dashboards, and memory. It's built to replace all three with one place that actually understands what a domain portfolio is.
One portfolio, not three
A spreadsheet, a registrar dashboard, and a mental list of what's expiring soon aren't a system — they're three places the same information can go stale independently. DomainOwl exists to be the one place that stays current.
Real numbers, not a purchase price
Most tools that track domains stop at the price you paid. A domain held for years accumulates renewal costs that quietly erase the profit you think you have. We built the P&L layer because that gap is where real money disappears unnoticed.
Decisions, not just data
Knowing a domain expires in 30 days isn't the same as knowing whether it's worth renewing. The keep/drop decision queue exists because a list of facts still leaves you doing the math yourself, one domain at a time.
DomainOwl is early. The core is built and working: portfolio tracking across any registrar, automated daily expiry monitoring, a renewal calendar with 90-day cash-flow forecasting, drop-lifecycle watching, and real per-domain P&L with a US tax-ready export. Marketplace reconciliation and team seats are on the roadmap, not yet shipped — we'd rather say that plainly than claim a feature before it exists.
